2015 Goals via Earl-Leigh Designs

One way to reach your goals is to write them down. I like to post mine for extra accountability. It tickles me to no end when I get a reminder from one of you ladies to post an update. Thank you for that! There were a few times last year where I just wanted to eat a pint of ice cream, rub my tummy and watch Netflix but one of those reminders would come just in time. Not that I don’t enjoy that scenario! Haha! Moderation. Because I have a lot of smaller goals to help get me to my ultimate goal of creating a life that I love, I’m only going to post a few for now.

1. Continue to practice yoga and end the year with at least one handstand push-up.
2. Get into competition shape.
3. Compete in the bikini division of an NPC show! The Palmetto Classic is one of the annual bodybuilding competitions held in South Carolina, Charleston to be exact, and I would really like my first show to be drive-able to cut down on expenses.
4. Safely reverse to a weight that is easier to maintain post-competition.
5. Actively participate in a local running group.
6. Work on MY happy.
7. Continue experimenting with food.
1. Consistency.
2. Invest in lighting and backdrops for tutorials and vlogs. I’ve made a few projects but my apartment has the absolute worst lighting so photographs don’t come out the way I’d like.
3. Buy a new camera.
4. Establish a schedule for posting, commenting on other blogs and sharing via social media.

Nutritional Styles and Relaxation

I am all over the place lately. It has gotten to a point where I don’t remember what life before the frenzy felt like. We went from Thanksgiving to Harper’s birthday to our anniversary to Christmas preparations and this year I threw in the stockings for NICU parents.

I choose to do all of these things in my own enthusiastic fashion because I love to see people smile. The added stress of work and what I’m going to do next is what has me worn out. Because my main goal is to create a life that I love, I have a lot of scary decisions to make.

Thankfully, I have a small break coming up so I can take a few days to breathe and work on an action plan.

Discover Your Nutritional Style

One of the main things I’d like to do for myself during my vacation is read “Discover Your Nutritional Style” by Holli Thompson. I have already taken a peek through the first two chapters and I love that she recognizes the individual. While I don’t take anything one person says as “Bible” or the whole truth because we’re all different, I don’t like to keep myself in a box. We can all learn a little something from everyone. Good grief, I sound skeptical. I’m not, I promise. Haha!

A Follow Up on Fall Goals and Pumpkin Spice Syrup {Recipe}

A few months ago (whoa time is flying), I posted my Fall goals. I’m proud to say that I’ve ticked most items off the list! Huzzah!

We finally made it to the pumpkin farm this past weekend. Thank goodness for by-weeks because college football has been dictating our Saturdays. Boo!

The main person who grumbled about going to “take pictures in foliage” had a great time. I’m happy to report that he did not break the hobby horse.
While these aren’t the professional photos I had in mind, they’re still frame-able so I’m counting these as family photos too. Score! Besides, we just sank $1500 into the car so the hubby doesn’t see professional photos as a necessary expense at the moment. Even though I understand and agree with his logic, there was still a small part of me that was butthurt about the decision until this weekend. I’ll remove the little guy to right of us before printing. Or maybe I’ll leave the kid in the picture. He was hellbent on photobombing us. I have three to four pictures that show him getting closer and closer. Kids.

This is one of Harper’s new headbands that she thinks is “pwetty” but refuses to wear. She has some pretty stylish teddy bears now. My crafting slowed down last month because I was running out of space for my completed projects. Someone gave me the idea to just start decorating as I complete the items. Genius! I usually start putting up Christmas decor the day after Thanksgiving anyway.
Pumpkin Spice Syrup via Earl-Leigh Designs
This may not be the healthiest but we’re going to count this as one of my easy, healthy recipes. 😉
Ingredients:
1 c pumpkin puree
1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice (I used a little more…obvisiously)
1/2 c water
Pure maple syrup or liquid sweetener of choice to taste
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan on medium heat.
Bring to a boil and simmer for about 15 minutes.
Remove from heat.
Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
Store in a mason jar or a container that has a good seal.
Refrigerate for about 30 days.
As far the skirt thing goes…yeah…we’ll get back to that at a later date. Ha!

Struggle Bus: {Fall Goals and Follow-Up}

In addition to the goals I set at the beginning of the year, I’m adding in these new ones because they work well with what I’m supposed to be doing anyway. 

Revisiting goals set earlier in the year:

Blogging- I’m still working on my blog redesign.Yup. There’s that and there goes my hair….as i pull it out. Ugh! I’m right on the edge of paying someone to do it for me. The only thing stopping me is the fact that I change my mind. A LOT. By forcing myself to figure out some light coding and design, I know that I’m giving myself more control. Lawd! It’s just daunting.

Color schemes, icons and infinite possibilities. I need to be more decisive and practical. I’m over here like, I’m going to have sequins and glitter in the background with a metallic rainbow hanging from a unicorn’s butt. Meanwhile, my drawing skills are limited. I’m trying to wiggle myself to the top of Mike’s freelance list so he can draw for me (hello, unicorn). He keeps pointing out the fact that his clients have money and we use that stuff for pesky things like food and rent.

I also need to do more…blogging. Ahem.

Nutrition and Fitness- I’ve been progressing nicely in the fitness category. Awesome.

Y’all know that I’ve had my fair share of drinks and cookies this year AND pumpkin season is just starting. Help. Me! I have been scouring Pinterest in order to find some healthier versions of my pumpkiny favorites. Otherwise, I’m going to add a helluva lot more cardio to my routine.

I hate cardio. I love pumpkins. All aboard the struggle bus.

Decorating-  I bought pillows for the living room, a new shower curtain, a mason jar soap dispenser and storage for under the bathroom sink. It’s the middle of August so I’m obviously failing at this goal. I bought all of those items in one shopping trip so its not even like I’ve been progressively working on beautifying my life. Too much Netflix after baby’s bedtime, not enough sewing. However, I recently finished watching Six Feet Under (Amazon Prime). OMG! I almost cried my face off. Must see!
